Handong Global University (HGU) was founded on Christian principles in 1995 by scientists from the foremost technology and science institute of Korea, KAIST, where they saw the vision and need for a more holistic, interdisciplinary educational model for teaching world leadership under the foundation of Christ's teaching to love others. That vision became HGU, and today, the university is at the forefront of principled, positive world leadership education with partnerships with many organizations such as the OECD, the UNESCO, and is a UN Academic ASPIRE campus.
To deliver the customized and personalized mentorship based educational model that is the hallmark of HGU, enrollment is topped at 4000 students. The Campus sits overlooking the Pacific Ocean in a beautiful pine forest with the bustling city life only a shuttle ride away. The campus is a meeting place of cultures, ideas, and aspirational scholars from over 50 different nations. The Institute for Global Education spearheads the GRACE academic initiatives. It provides a new educational paradigm of Globally Responsible and Advanced Citizenship Education (GRACE) for sustainable peace and prosperity in the 21st Century.
